Aldowa, known for its unique facade claddings on national and international landmarks, is taking part in Future Facade 2025 to showcase its most recent innovative product: the solar thermal facade. “Our facade systems combine design with sustainability,” says Jacques Heijboer, sales manager from Aldowa. “With the solar thermal facade, we demonstrate how facades can actively contribute to the energy transition by both generating energy and making buildings more sustainable.”
The solar thermal facade offers an innovative way to generate sustainable energy through the building envelope. “The system captures solar heat during the winter months for heating and releases heat at night or from shaded areas to cool during the summer. In conjunction with a heat pump, the system meets heating demands. It operates silently, is more efficient than a conventional heat pump/system, and can be adapted to a variety of construction needs,” says Victor Hamoen, engineer at Aldowa.
The system also offers great design freedom. Within the maximum width of the aluminium standard plate, all shapes and colours are possible. Darker colours generally yield more heat output, but thanks to the infrared-absorbing coating, even white panels are possible. The company focuses on combining aesthetics and functionality so that the system can be applied in various architectural contexts.
In addition to product innovation, Aldowa focuses on sustainable solutions such as the use of reused materials, aluminium with low CO₂ emissions, and even the integration of solar panels into facades. “Our mission is to make tomorrow’s facade not only more aesthetic, but also more sustainable,” says Melissa Campos, sustainable innovations engineer at Aldowa. “Future Façade 2025 is the place to share this vision with the world.”
The solar thermal facade can be utilized by architects, contractors, and project developers seeking a sustainable and flexible solution for climate control in buildings. Interested parties can view a demonstration of the heating system at the Future Facade conference 7th and 8th May. For more information, please contact Jacques Heijboer at jacquesheijboer@aldowa.nl.
