Project information

TECH (Transportable Eco-friendly Cardboard House) is the 6th generation of our paper-based modular houses. For the first time, we provide a full-performance, all-seasons option for living and recreation. The basic housing unit includes a living room with a kitchenette, hallway with wardrobe, bathroom and mezzanine bedroom.
TECH is a fully prefabricated, modular design based on structural frames filled with cardboard insulative panels and customisable finishing layers. The main building materials are paper tubes, corrugated cardboard and cellulose insulation. Together with timber-based elements and dismantlable joints, they provide a durable structure with excellent thermal properties and low environmental impact. The insulative and finishing materials applied effectively protect the house against humidity and fire, ensuring safe use for years to come. Over 80% of building materials used is recycled and the structure allow for disassembly and material separation in the End of Life phase. TECH envelope provides excellent thermal insulation with U < 0.20 W/(m²·K) for walls and U < 0.15 W/(m²·K) for the roof.
TECH was designed within an interdisciplinary research project ‘Transportable Eco-friendly Cardboard House – R&D works on implementation of cellulose based materials in architecture’, supported by the the National Centre for Research and Development of Poland.
