Project information
Gravitational Energy Storage Systems (GESS) function by lifting a heavy object, storing potential energy, and then releasing it to drive a generator. This product is a modular façade system that integrates BIPV panels and operates in conjunction with the building’s daily energy profile. When excess energy is generated by the BIPV panels, or during periods of favorable electricity pricing, the weights are lifted and lowered to drive the generator. The product is designed for both new constructions and retrofit applications. The visible movement of tthe weights within the facade creates a dynamic and visually engaging element that offers a high degree of customization by the clients, allowing for diverse aesthetic expressions.
